Hay House contest winner: a novel about love for a divided world

TORONTO, November 5, 2026 – After a divisive season, Canadian author Dr. Sonia Palleck offers readers a story about love. Her new holiday novel, We Three Queens, is out now from Hay House, part of Penguin Random House, in paperback, ebook and audiobook.
Dr. Palleck wrote the book after going out to the desert in search of something. "When I sat with myself and really went inside, this is the story that came out," she said.
In the novel, three women from very different walks of life are called to a desert beyond time and space at Christmastime. Each carries a private burden that has left her disconnected from her true self. When sparrows arrive with the message "cross the desert, follow the star, mend the circle," the women are drawn together on an extraordinary journey.

Born in Windsor and based in London, Ontario, Dr. Palleck has practised orthodontics for more than 30 years, including 10 years as an associate clinical instructor at Western University. After answering a calling to write in 2020, she wrote the four-book series Leave the Little Light On, drawn from her own life. We Three Queens, winner of the fiction category of the Hay House Writer's Contest in May 2025, is her first novel with Hay House.
